BUFFALO PICS....
An old neighbor of mine owns about 60 buffalo....so when I was in Pennsylvania in October my father took me out to his farm so that I could see them. The experience was awesome! He owns a load of land and the buffalo roam free on this property....the land had been strip-mined many years ago and was left with a few lakes and vast expanses of grass. He was kind enough to bring them up close for me to take pictures. It was later in the morning than I would have preferred...I had a little exposure (shadow) trouble but I still think that I captured the essence of beasts. There were about 10 calves....the one in the 2 pictures below was only one month old. The mothers were very protective and didn't want to bring them too close to this big bad blonde girl with the funky looking horn (lens) sticking out of her face!

The buffalo is coming up the hill towards the fence where I was standing. We had put food out to attract them. Picture is a little too dark for my liking...but I thought it was good otherwise! |
Mother buffalo and baby. The calf is approximately 1 month old. |

Calf is nursing. This was the only mother/calf pair that would come close to me. The others went to a feeding area on the other side of the barn. My access was restricted...they were in a fenced in area. |
Elusive guinea fowl that were prowling around the barn. The actual 4 X 6 picture is excellent....but when scanned (I didn't want to manipulate) it appears too dark. The chicks walked behind the mother hen with their heads bowed.... they hid almost the entire time I was there...I had to be very sneaky! |
